Annalisa Adams is a costume designer well-versed in a spectrum of entertainment, including theater, film, television, and music. In 2020 she was nominated for a Prime-Time Emmy for her work as an assistant costume designer on Drunk History. Being an active member of the Costume Designers Guild she draws upon her bi-racial identity and queer allyship to mentor and advocates for BIPOC and LGBTQIA communities.
Adams is a Los Angeles native and was raised in West Hollywood surrounded by giants in the entertainment industry. As a benefit of her mother’s career as a professional singer, she’s heard Liberace soundcheck, toured with Natalie Cole, and shopped for Lady Gaga. Growing up, she admired Jim Henson for his imagination and creative spirit. After interning with the Chiodo Bros, she decided puppetry wasn't her path but that she still wanted to work in the industry. Moving on to her next inspiration, the 1950s aesthetic foregrounded by Christian Dior, she decided to attend fashion design school. Ultimately, Adams was drawn to the character aspect of costumes, which led her back home to the theater. Her first union job was with Bob Mackie’s rental house, EC2 Costumes. She worked her way up to Key Costumer on shows such as ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ and ‘Ratched.’ Then went on to assist on major projects such as 'Love and Mercy', 'Awkward', and 'Goliath'.
She currently works for high-profile clients and platforms like Amazon Prime, Netflix, and HBO while continuing to lead design for independent films and series. Her most recent work appears in 'Now We're Talking' on the CW Seed platform.
